About AW's President
Dick Brown Dick first achieved national prominence as Founder and President of the Computer Store (tCS), the first computer retail store west of the Mississippi. He was recognized as a leader in the personal computer and reseller markets (hardware and software) and was once selected as one of the 25 most influential people in the PC industry, along with others such as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. He is now Founder and President of American World (AW), a consulting and publishing company. AW's consulting activities specialize in working with entrepreneurs to raise capital and to provide them with support services for such efforts. AW also offers entrepreneurs the Entrepreneur's Edge, a complete set of tools that make fund-raising far more efficient. AW still occasionally writes professional business plans, complete with realistic financial forecasts, valuation models and a complete modeling of the venture by "running your business on paper". AW publishes books and articles for entrepreneurs and about the PC Revolution and the people that made it happen (The PC Revolution, An Anarchist's Journey). Dick's latest book is How To Raise Money, Insider Edition, the complete guide for all entrepreneurs Dick also wrote a monthly column for The National Networker (TNNWC) on Venture Capital, Reality vs. Rumor. TNNWC is no longer active but was at http://www.thenationalnetworker.com/ AW brings clients over 35 years’ experience with "real world" ventures coupled with senior sales, marketing and management positions in the computer, high-tech and related industries. Dick also has strong financial and business experience and he has raised several million dollars. He has been the featured speaker at high-tech industry events such as COMDEX, National Computer Conference, Grumman/Cowan/Datamation as well as the Asian Business Association and Monte Jade seminars. He has been interviewed many times by local TV, radio and newspapers and has been a favorite information source for industry publications as well as national magazines such as Time and the Wall Street Journal.
He was Founder and VP of Sales and Marketing for ScanCenters of America. Dick has also held executive positions at Trident Micro Systems, Genoa Systems, Minuteman Information Systems, Data General Corp., Digital and the Computer Store.
